- M.R.M. (Resource & Environmental Management, SFU)

B.E.S. Honours Environment and Resource Studies Co-op, Joint Honours Biology, University of Waterloo, Ontario (2009)

Elizabeth graduated from the School of Resource & Environmental Management in 2012. Her masters project was entitled "Microhabitat selection of the Western skink (Plestiodon skiltonianus) in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia".

Biography

Through the experiences of her undergraduate co-op terms, Elizabeth has developed an interest in wildlife biology and wildlife conservation. Her research in REM focuses on the microhabitat selection of a Species At Risk in BC: the Western Skink. The Western Skink is a small lizard with a bright blue tail that is found only in a small portion of the Okanagan region of BC. She is interested in determining the habitat needs for this lizard and how that will inform management decisions for the species. Elizabeth is also interested in determining how management of skink populations might impact the resilience of the skink's specialist predator, the Desert Nightsnake which is listed as Endangered in BC. She will use simulation modeling to generate population dynamics for both species, and analyze the resilience of these populations when they are affected by different management scenarios.
